2008 Women's Day of Self-Esteem
Date: Sunday, May 4, 2008 (New Date!)
Location: Los Amigos High School
Thank you to all who joined us on: Sunday, September 16, 2007 at Golden West College, Huntington Beach for the 2007 Women's Day of Self-Esteem! It was a life-transforming day for residents of local shelters that included a variety of complimentary services:
- Motivational seminar
- Personal grooming services (hair and make up styling and neck massage)
- Wardrobe selection
- Career & Resource Fair
- Finale
Adults emerging from life crises need a major boost to their self-esteem to feel more positive about the future. Planning for re-entry into the world of work poses real barriers to women who do not have the professional attire to make a good first impression in an interview. This "Day of Self-Esteem" provided job ready candidates with the final touches they need to feel confident on the job.
HOW CAN I HELP? LOTS of ways!
- Volunteer to work the 2008 Women's Day of Self-Esteem.
- Host a clothing/accessory drive at your company, with your civic organization or in your neighborhood. Plus size women's clothing is critically important; along with good quality shoes, purses, scarves, jewelry and belts. (This is needed year-round!)
- Recruit your friends and associates to create lasting memories serving others!
- Organize a Volunteer Team to work at our donation facility (Monday - Saturday 9 - 2 PM) to help sort, size and tag clothing
- Arrange to exhibit at our Career & Resource Fair
